The History of the Buddhist Community
Karma Tengyal Ling in brief
In 1977 the head of the Karma-Kagyu Tradition, the
16th Karmapa, visited West-Berlin. On the occasion of his visit he founded the
institution with the name
"Karma Tengyal Ling" (that means: the place, which leads you to the victory over your own ignorance) in Berlin. In 1984 the association with this name was founded. It had the aim, to find a suitable place for the transmission of the entire Buddhist doctrine, teachings and the methods of the Karma-Kagyu-tradition in particular. At the beginning rooms in Berlin were rented and a provisional shrine-room with different Buddha-statues, texts (Kangyur and Tengyur), ritual devices and musical instruments was established. In the year 1992 an own estate in Stechlin-Menz, OT Ludwigshorst could be bought.
