Buddhism, Vajrayana-Tradition

The Vajrayana teachings are most widely spread in the Himalayas and the neighbouring countries and are therefore often referred to as "Tibetan Buddhism". Well known in the West are its representatives such as His Holiness The Dalai Lama and His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa. "Vajra" means "Diamond" and symbolises the indestructibility and clarity of the mind. "Yana" again means "Vehicle".

The practices of Vajrayana require deep understanding, sharp discernment and instructions by a highly qualified teacher. If all these requirements are met by a human being these practices are regarded as the most effective and most simple means to reach complete liberation.
